874 Impact of Covid-19 Measures on Surgical Site Infection Rate in Orthopaedic Patients

Abstract Aim Rate of surgical site infections (SSI) in orthopaedic surgery is low but can have disastrous consequences. The aim this study was to assess the impact Covid-19 measures on rate SSI and subsequent readmissions patients. Method Retrospective, observational comparing rates patients who underwent prior lockdown versus that during period. A total 1151 were identified using electronic clinical records over two different time periods: 3 months pre (n=680) (n=470). Patients followed up for 1 year following their initial procedure. Primary outcome readmission SSI. Results most commonly performed procedures arthroplasty manipulation under anaesthesia with 119 vs 101 non-lockdown (p=0.001). higher group 61 (13%) 44 (6.5%) (p <0.001).
